The Sun & Your Health

We all know the sun is life — it gives us energy and instantly boosts our mood. But like anything good, too much of it can turn into harm! That’s why, at Arab International Laboratories, we want to explain in a simple way how to benefit from sunlight without putting yourself at risk.

The Sun: Friend or Foe?

The sun has many benefits — the most important one is helping your body produce Vitamin D. And Vitamin D is a whole story on its own: it’s essential for your bones, immunity, and even your mood!

But on the other hand, staying under the sun for too long without protection can cause:

  • Sunburn: Red, painful skin that may blister.

  • Premature aging: Early wrinkles and dark spots.

  • More serious issues: Long-term excessive sun exposure increases the risk of skin cancer, and can also affect your eyes.

How to Enjoy the Sun Safely

The solution is simple — just a little caution:

  1. Choose the right time: Avoid strong sunlight between 10 AM and 4 PM.

  2. Sunscreen is your best friend: Use SPF 50+ or higher. Apply it to all exposed skin 15 minutes before going out and reapply every two hours, especially if you sweat or go swimming.

  3. Dress wisely: Wear long sleeves, long pants, and a hat or cap to protect your face and neck.

  4. Protect your eyes: Choose sunglasses that block 99% of UV rays.

  5. Seek shade: Stay in shaded areas as much as possible.

When Should You Visit Us for Tests?

If you notice any of the following, it’s better to visit Arab Laboratories so we can check on your health:

  • Persistent fatigue or tiredness: You might have Vitamin D deficiency.

  • Any unusual skin spot: A mole or patch that changed in color, size, or shape. This requires a dermatologist, who may request specific tests.

We’re here because your health matters to us.
If you have questions or want to book a test, call us at 01002099049 or visit us at 7 Gesr El Suez Street, next to Mansheyet El Bakry Hospital.
